Mad Magazine

Mad Magazine is an American humor magazine founded by editor Harvey Kurtzman and publisher Harvey Kurtzman in 1952. It offers satire on all aspects of American life and pop culture, the monthly publication deflates stuffed shirts and pokes fun at common frailties. This magazine is where Spy vs Spy came to life and is most likely where you will see the cartoon.

When I was a kid I never missed a Mad magazine, ever, laughing at every page. My daughter is now twelve and I picked up a copy to buy her and it’s $5.99 with no longer cheap on it because that would not be funny any more. When it was 50 cents that was funny. I flipped through it and there were real pictures (not cartoons of real Fox News people with a caption about them “ranting.” It wasn’t funny, it was just more political junk. I used to love the sick humor and parodies and fun poked at everyone. Now I guess those days are gone and now Mad is mad at people and not funny any more. So I’ll keep my $5.99 and just remember the good old days when everyone was an absurd target.
